MetricFlow is a SQL query generation tool designed to streamline metric creation across different data dimensions for a variety of business needs. It combines data sources through semantic graphs and enables users to define metrics in their dbt projects, facilitating quick and efficient querying of metric datasets. It operates through YAML files that define semantic models and simple metrics, allowing for flexibility and reusability. MetricFlow is a product of the Open Semantic Interchange (OSI) initiative and supports integrations with major data platforms such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, PostgreSQL, and Redshift. It is compatible with dbt version 1.6 and higher and distributed under the Apache 2.0 license. It aims to enhance metric definition and data querying, while maintaining performance and efficiency in data management workflows.
