What is BuiltWith?

BuiltWith is a technology profiler: it crawls websites and reports the tools it can detect from the page — analytics scripts, marketing pixels, ecommerce platforms, JavaScript frameworks, hosting and CDN providers. Around that it sells technology lookup for a single site, lists of every site using a given technology, and market-share reports.

Data sources

Our approach to sourcing tech usage data sets us apart from BuiltWith in a few key ways. BuiltWith tracks more technologies (124k+ against our 33k), and it finds them by crawling websites. We read job postings instead, which shows the CRMs, ERPs, databases and internal tools that never appear on a company's website.

Additionally, instead of tracking websites, we gather data from job postings. Each month, we collect job listings from millions of companies by monitoring company websites, job boards, and other hiring platforms. When a job listing mentions a specific technology in the title or description, it indicates that the company likely uses that technology. We then assign a confidence score (low, medium, high) based on the frequency and context of these mentions to estimate how likely the company is to use that technology.

Pricing

The two products charge for different things. BuiltWith sells list access by the month: Basic is $295 for two technologies, with every company running them included, so it costs less for very large lists of one or two web technologies. We charge for the companies your search returns, so a list of a few thousand companies costs less with us, and you can buy credits without a monthly plan.
