Market note
The UK has the densest recruitment-agency layer of any market we cover, and it shows in the data: a single vacancy is routinely advertised by several agencies at once on Reed, CV-Library and Indeed, under slightly different titles. Deduplication is doing more work here than anywhere else, and it is the reason our UK count is lower than a naive sum across those boards would suggest. It is also why the Sources table is worth reading before you pick a source to rely on.

The ONS vacancy estimate, published quarterly from an employer survey, measures something different — vacancies open at a point in time, advertised or not — so the two figures are not interchangeable. Online posting counts move faster and are broken down by employer, source and requirement; the ONS series is the better macro indicator.

Methodology
- What we count. Individual online job postings, not survey-based vacancy estimates. A posting is counted once, on the date it was published.
- Where they come from. Job boards, company career pages behind applicant tracking systems, and aggregators — see the full source list.
- Deduplication. The same role published on several boards is merged into one posting, so multi-source coverage inflates neither counts nor trends.
- Geography. A posting counts towards a country when any of its locations resolve to that country, so a multi-country posting is counted in each. Country breakdown tables instead attribute each posting to its primary location, so a single posting never appears twice in the same table.
- Refresh. New postings are discovered daily; the figures on this page are recomputed monthly against the live dataset.
